About Me: Stefan Trauth – Stories Full of Magic, Visions, and Dreams
My name is Stefan Trauth, born in 1977. A question I am often asked is: "Why do you write books – especially children's books – even though you don’t have children yourself?" This is a valid question and inevitably leads to a reflection on my life and the reasons that inspire me to write.
The answer lies deeply rooted in my own story. My childhood was not a childhood in the conventional sense. My mother passed away shortly after my birth, and the years that followed were marked by violence and abuse from my father. What other children found in a loving home was denied to me. The comfort, security, and carefree nature of a childhood did not exist for me.
Yet there was something that helped me escape this reality: my dreams. In a world that offered me no refuge, my imagination and stories became my personal lifeline. They were not just an escape from reality but a space where I could find hope, joy, and magic. These stories carried me through the darkest hours of my life and showed me that dreams can be everything we have – and sometimes, all we need.
One fateful event further shaped my life: due to an accident, I lost the ability to have children of my own. This fact has deepened my perspective on life and the responsibility we bear for future generations. It is my desire to create stories that show children – and adults too – how important it is to believe in the good, the magical, and the wonderful.
Perhaps it is precisely this experience that enables me to write stories so vivid and tangible that they blur the line between reality and fantasy. For me, a good story is not just entertainment. It is a gateway to a world that allows us to forget everything else for a moment. It takes us on a journey that touches, inspires, and shows us what is possible when we believe in our dreams.
Writing is more than a creative process for me. It is my way of reclaiming, piece by piece, the childhood I never had. Every story I write is a step toward rediscovering lost moments – moments I can share with my readers.
I write because I know how important dreams are. They give us strength when everything around us seems dark. They are the spark in the darkness that guides us when the light of the sun is hidden. Dreams are the bridge between what is and what could be.
My books – whether children's books, science fiction, visionary tales, or authentic guides – carry this message within them: that there is always hope, that magic is real if we are willing to believe in it, and that every story, no matter how small, can make our lives a little brighter.
